Vidyakshetra is a learning center for Students, Teachers, Educators and Parents(STEP). Vidyakshetra offers space and opportunity to explore holistic education. Vidyakshetra offers a learning environment where they grow and flower in goodness.

Vidhyakshetra

The members of the school core team have been working in the educational sector for several decades. The team has never been satisfied with the educational practices and the process. The team members in the exploration to understand alternative systems of education travelled vide to see alternative schools, participated in educational conferences, met with educationists and participated in an International Democratic Conference. Enriched by the exposure to eminent educationists, educational institutions, gatherings and conferences the team set out to start a school with a difference, a school to create a true learning space for children and adults, a school that demonstrates joyful learning through a curriculum that addresses issues of holistic education. Vidyakshetra is committed to addressing all the issues of holistic education. There is a great concern for the child’s wellbeing and holistic growth. The mechanical and blind memorizing of the content is questioned and an alternate environment to learn with joy, without stress, without fear, etc. is explored and implemented.

Education Approach

Replacing learning by route with joyful, experiential and self-learning without stress is desired. The learning environment is free from fear, stress and memorizing. Academic activities, co-curricular activities, creative activities, indoor and outdoor games, thought development activities, socio-emotional learning activities, cultural activities, keeping abreast with the technology, international exposure and scientific hands-on activities comprise the school curriculum. Regular Faculty development programs, commitment to uncompromising excellence and parent workshops will sustain the spirit of the culture of the school. The focus shall be on learning by understanding and scientific assessment Development of skills shall play a pivotal role in learning for life. When the learning process is coupled with the inquiry process a person excels and performs the best in everything. The curriculum is designed to suit child-centered self-learning.

Dear parents Vidyakshetra is concerned about adults and children learning together.

As you are aware that good livelihood is based on the skills one acquires. Skills learned at school shape the individual character and personality. The stronger the individual the better opportunities in life. Happiness in life is based on the individual perspective and way of thinking. If the thinking process is formed positively and scientifically the individual is capable of discovering happiness for oneself rather than following others' opinions, viewpoints and thought patterns. The behaviour, character, attitude, emotions, relationship, beliefs and lifestyle are dependent on the thought process. The school cultivates enquiry inquiry-based thought process to enable the individual to solve any problem. The learning environment supports self-learning and self-discovery. The school encourages children to play daily. Children learn many skills during play. One must understand that play cultivates a sportive personality. The school encourages parents to connect with the staff to understand the child better. Parents in collaboration with the school can create wonders regarding the child's performance. The doors are always open to enthusiastic parents.

Curriculum

The curriculum is well balanced with academic activities and non academic activities to enable a holistic development of the child. It focuses on the needs of the child rather than the adult. It is expected that the curriculum brings about intellectual, physical, psychological and spiritual development. Learning by doing is given priority. Learning by route leads to boredom and has no joy in it. The curriculum ensures joyful learning. It enables the development of creativity and innovation. It helps develop positive thinking, life skills, a balance in emotions, a love for nature and an understanding of the self and society. The curriculum aspires to create new mind that can solve all the problems of the world and set peace and harmony.

STEP

Students, Teachers, Educators and Parents (STEP) must all co-operate to create the best learning environment. If the student is to get a good education teachers, Educators and Parents ought to work in harmony and collaborate to work towards the vision of the school. Regular workshops, orientations and training programs will help understand a holistic education approach and act positively together. The school is committed to creating this learning environment for adults and students.
